Scouts work in small groups called patrols. Each patrol is led by an experienced scout called a Patrol Leader. Helping each patrol is an very experienced scout, usually one of the older boys, called the Senior Patrol Leader. The Senior Patrol Leader runs each meeting and works with the adult leaders to create a fun and safe event.
As the scouts learn skills and show leadership they gain rank and other awards. All scouts benefit from these experiences regardless of what rank they earn. A few, about 2% nationally, earn the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.
